Meet The Team
Together, we are building a resource that celebrates resilience, innovation, and the cultural perspectives that Latin American scientists bring to global research. Our work aims to dismantle systemic barriers, expand representation, and create pathways for the next generation of scientists.

Joselyn Landazuri Vinueza, PhD
University of Washington
As a Latina scientist and science communicator, Joss brings a deep commitment to celebrating stories and innovation that emerge from Latin America's diverse cultural and scientific contexts. Her work in science diplomacy bridges research communities across borders.

Camila Arango
PhD Candidate – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Camila is a first-generation Colombian immigrant scientist studying how receptor tyrosine kinases are activated at the molecular level and how these processes shape disease. She works in structural biology and biophysics and has a passion for making science, both within and beyond her field, more equitable while honoring the scientific legacy of Latin America.

María Hincapié-Otero
Doctoral researcher – University of Helsinki
María is a Colombian scientist studying how the tumor microenvironment shapes drug responses in cancer. Beyond her research, she is also on a mission to make academia a more welcoming place for other Latin American researchers. She sees this Atlas as a way to support that mission by highlighting relatable role models to show the next generation that they truly belong too.

Mia Somocurcio
Undergraduate Student – Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas
Mia is a Peruvian researcher interested in molecular biology, biophysics, and epigenetics. She is motivated by showing that high-quality science can be done in Latin America, contributing to visibility efforts and collaborations across the region.
