Funding Sources : I have received competitive research grants from Brazilian government funding agencies. Early in my career, I participated in projects led by more senior scientists, and later I began securing grants as a principal investigator. However, such funding opportunities are limited, and the infrastructure available to me as a full professor in Brazil—including computational resources, physical infrastructure, and even basic materials like access to a photocopier or paper for handing out exams—is often below what I had as a graduate student in the Global North.
